Hopefully someone else will use this information to keep themselves from slamming their face into the wall. If, when plugging in your Softrock SDR, Windows 7 decides to throw the “Unknown device” error in your face despite you installing the drivers AND the Softrock works on another machine (like a netbook), here is the simple fix. Unplug your USB Keyboard/Mouse, plug in your Softrock (hey! it works now!), then plug your kb/mouse back in. The Softrock lib-USB drivers sometimes use conflicting HID USB assignments making Windows freak out when it sees your existing kb/mouse + Softrock.
